I began working with youth in the foster system while employed for several years at a level 14 facility, working with some of the most vulnerable youth in California. Having earned my B.S. degree in Recreation Administration from Fresno State University and a M.S. degree in Therapeutic Recreation Administration from San Jose State University, I was provided an opportunity to integrate my passion for helping children using sports and recreation as a vehicle to do so.

As an avid athlete and former coach, sports and recreation taught me how to be a leader, a team player, and about determination and compassion.

Through many years of working with youth and families, I found Therapeutic Recreation to be such a tremendously effective tool in treating the whole person, especially those that have experienced trauma in their lives. It is the essence of a healthy community and one’s overall health and well-being. I find it extremely rewarding to help individuals enhance their quality of life with more independence and a welcoming integration back into their community.

Our goal at Haven of Hope is to teach our youth ways to improve the quality of their lives and to ignite a passion for life that they may once thought to have lost. We focus on one’s unique individual needs and utilize creative methods to promote the physical, emotional, cognitive and social functioning of those we serve.

I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to be part of such an amazing team and to do such meaningful work. Whether it’s guiding youth down a healthier path towards happiness…or inspiring a counselor to continue down a path that will only benefit more youth for generations to come – the rewards are endless.
