Founded in 1998 by Davina Polanco, MS, CTRS, Haven of Hope has a long-standing commitment to supporting foster youth and helping young adults build successful, independent futures.

In 2014, Haven of Hope expanded its services by developing the Transitional Housing Placement for Non-Minor Dependents (THP+NMD) program, known as STAY (Supporting Transitional Age Youth). This program was created to provide continued support for young adults transitioning from foster care into adulthood, recognizing that many youth need additional guidance, stability, and resources as they develop the skills necessary for successful independence.

Haven of Hope’s STAY program is licensed to serve up to 15 young adults of all genders, ages 18-20, including Non-Minor Dependents (NMDs) who choose to remain in extended foster care and young adults seeking a supportive pathway toward self-sufficiency.

The STAY program provides young adults with the opportunity to experience independence while having access to a strong network of support. Participants live independently while receiving individualized case management, independent living skills development, and assistance in areas such as housing stability, education, employment, transportation, financial management, life skills, and wellness.

Through STAY, Haven of Hope creates a safe and supportive environment where young adults can practice the skills they have developed, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward long-term independence.
